His Kidz

Your children are a treasure to you, to God and to us. That’s why we are committed to creating a fun and safe environment for your children to learn about the Bible and the love of Jesus.

The goal of the children’s ministry is to partner with parents to lead our children into their own relationship with Jesus. Through relevant, age-appropriate kids’ services and activities, our ultimate hope is to see a generation of children come to know God at an early age.

FAQs

Are my kids going to be safe?

Yes. We take your child’s safety very seriously and are committed to a system that creates a safe environment. This means our staff and volunteers in each classroom have completed a background check. For security, all children birth through grade 4 are signed in at one of the security kiosks before going to class. Our children’s area is also monitored by our trained Safety Response Team.

Where do I go when I get to church?

When you arrive, simply come to the HisKidz kiosk (at the far end of our mall area) to get started.  We’ll have volunteers on hand to help you register your child in our security system and get you checked in. We’ll ask for some simple information, such as family members’ names, your children’s names and birthdates, your address, cell phone number, and any special instructions (allergies, special needs, etc.) for your child.

How does check-in work?

After finding (or registering) your child’s info in the database, you and your child will be given matching identification tags that are exclusive to your family and your visit. Your child will need to wear the name tag portion while you keep the matching tag. After the service, you will return to your child’s room and show your tag in order for your child to be released back to you.

When are HisKidz Activities?

Sunday Bible Classes – 10:15 a.m.-11:00 a.m.

Promiseland: Birth to Kindergarten

Meets on the 2nd floor (the main floor)

Our goal is for our youngest kids to experience the Bible on their level.  To do this, we take a fun, active, hands-on approach to teaching, which regularly includes singing, dancing, moving around, creating fun crafts, and acting out the Bible story. Your child will develop relationships with teachers and other children, and will also memorize key Bible verses each month.

It is our hope that your preschool child will learn:

  • God made me.
  • God loves me.
  • Jesus wants to be my friend forever.

Discovery: Grades 1 to 4

Meets on the 3rd floor

Our Discovery classes begin with a large-group lesson, where the Bible story is told in a fun, interactive, hands-on approach that children can understand.  Next, we break out into smaller groups. During small group time, kids connect with each other while reviewing the Bible lesson, learning how to apply it in their lives, memorizing key Bible verses, and having prayer time together.

The three core values we’d like each elementary student to learn are:

  • Wisdom: I need to make the wise choice.
  • Faith: I can trust God no matter what.
  • Friendship: I should treat others the way I want to be treated.

The Garage: Grades 5 to 6

Meets on the 3rd floor in “The Garage”

During this key time in pre-teens’ lives, we try to make sure each student has a clear understanding of the entire Bible. Our goal is to prepare them for the physical, emotional and spiritual changes they’ll be facing in their teenage years and to help them develop their own relationship with and identity in Christ.

Sunday Worship – 9:00 a.m.-10:00 a.m.

During our 9:00 a.m. worship service, we offer age-appropriate Bible classes for our youngest listeners.  Children stay with their parents in the auditorium for the first part of the worship service and then are dismissed to their classes shortly before the sermon. During the last half of the worship, they can attend the following classes:

  • Nursery (room 208B): ages birth to 24 months
  • Carpenter’s Corner (HisKidz Learning Center, just off the mall area): 2-year-olds
  • Canaan’s Land (in the Canaan’s Land room at the far end of the mall): 3-year-olds to kindergarteners
  • Discovery (on the 3rd floor): Grades 1 to 4

If children are staying for Sunday Bible Classes, we’re happy to move them from their Worship Classrooms to their Bible Classrooms, so you don’t have to pick them up and immediately drop them back off.  Especially for our younger learners, we know the transitions away from parents are difficult, so this option helps make it a tiny bit easier for you!

Wednesday Night – 6:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m.

On Wednesday nights, our children from our Discovery class (grades 1 to 4) and our Garage class (grades 5 and 6) combine in the Garage area for a time of interactive, hands-on learning about the Bible.

Our Promiseland classes (birth to kindergarten) meet on the main floor in the same rooms they use for Sunday morning classes.

Faith Milestones

Sharing God’s pathway with the next generation Madison intentionally partners with parents to hand down faith in God to the next generation of Christ-followers in our families.

Baby Dedication Celebration:

Parent orientation class precedes a church-wide ceremony recognizing families with children under one year of age. This is a commitment for parents to be intentional about raising their children to follow Christ.

First Bible Presentation: A class for parents and students introducing God’s Word precedes a church-wide ceremony for the shepherds to give each first grader a new Bible. This is to encourage children to begin their own personal walk with God.

Faith Commitment: Often the decision to be baptized is made between the ages of 7-13. A class for parents helps them lead their children toward making a commitment to Jesus Christ and growing in that relationship. Preteen Passage (Preparing for Adolescence): Between the ages of 9-12 parents should intentionally prepare their children for the teen years. A series of classes helps parents navigate relevant issues such as physical, emotional and  spiritual changes preteens will go through as well as their identity in Christ.
