He Is Risen! Reflections on Easter Sunday’s Message

Dear Church Family,

What a great celebration we had this past Sunday as we gathered to honor the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ! The participation in worshiping the King was electric, and the truth of the empty tomb resonated through every song, prayer, and word shared.

Summary: The sermon explored the profound meaning of the resurrection and its transformative power in our daily lives. Drawing from Luke 24:1-8 and Mark 16, we examined how the resurrection is not merely a story we celebrate once a year, but the cornerstone of our entire worldview—the foundation that allows us to confidently declare “it is well with my soul” regardless of our circumstances. Through the powerful testimony of hymnist Horatio Spafford, who penned “It Is Well With My Soul” after losing his four daughters at sea, we were reminded that the resurrection gives us the strength to face life’s deepest trials with unwavering hope.

Takeaways:

  • The resurrection changes everything. Without Christ rising from the grave, He would be just another prophet. But because He conquered death, we have genuine hope—not wishful thinking, but biblical certainty that we are saved and secure in Him.

  • Share the good news where you are. We don’t necessarily need to travel halfway around the world to be missionaries. The co-worker in the cubicle next to us, the neighbor across the street—these are our mission fields. The resurrection message is too powerful to keep to ourselves.

  • “Make it well” becomes “it is well.” We may often pray “God, make it well with my soul” when we’re struggling, but the resurrection power living in us through the Holy Spirit enables us to move from pleading to proclaiming: “It IS well with my soul”—in plenty or in want, in sickness or in health, in joy or in sorrow.

As we continue living in the light of Easter, may we carry the confidence that comes from an empty tomb. Whatever state we find ourselves in this week, we can do all things through Christ who gives us strength (Philippians 4:13). The same power that raised Jesus from the dead lives in us!

In hope of the resurrection!
All things for Christ,

Michael
