It was a great day at Madison!  Today’s message focused on the profound significance of baptism and the transformative power it holds in our lives. Baptism is not just a ritual; it symbolizes dying to oneself and rising anew in Christ. This transformation is a continuous journey of growth and maturity in faith. The mission of the Madison Church is to “share the good news and transform lives,” but not just within the church. It applies to every aspect of our lives, whether at the grocery store, on the sports field, or in our homes.

We explored the importance of digging our roots deep in God’s word while also spreading our wings to impact the world around us. Isaiah 40 reminds us that those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength and soar on wings like eagles. This imagery encourages us to live out our faith boldly and distinctively, not conforming to the world but transforming it through our actions and testimony.

We also took a look at the phenomenon of  “group think.”, highlighting the danger of just believing the popular thing, rather than standing firm in our faith, even though it may be at odds with the culture. We must remember the sacred nature of our worship, whether in singing, communion, or prayer. These acts are not mere traditions but profound expressions of our relationship with God.

We also delved deeply into the “what” and the “why” of our faith practices. The “what” refers to the actions we take, such as worship and service, while the “why” is the motivation behind these actions. Our motivation should stem from a deep love for God and a desire to fulfill His will, not merely from tradition or obligation.

To wrap it all up… we are called to be ambassadors of Christ, making a difference in the world by actually living out the sacred nature of our faith. Our ultimate goal is to grow the kingdom of God by making disciples, understanding that our actions and motivations must align with His purpose.  Any other purpose would be in vain!
